Our Music Minor is designed to develop these skills through focused musical study and engaging performance opportunities. The minor's flexible nature allows students to tailor their studies and performance experiences to align with their own musical interests and career goals. All music minors are accepted through an entrance interview with the Director of Music Programs and Assistant Director of Music Programs.


The music minor is 18 credit hours, which includes a combination of course work, lessons, and ensemble requirements.

All music minors must select one concentration. Requirements are concentration-specific.

VOICE CONCENTRATION (9 credit hours)
Piano Skills (2)*
Voice (1) - must be taken twice for a total of 2 credit hours.

Choose 5 credit hours from the following vocal ensembles:

STRINGS, WOODWINDS, BRASS, & PERCUSSION CONCENTRATION (9 credit hours)
Piano Skills (2)*

Choose 2 credit hours of applied lessons on the following primary instruments:

Choose 5 credit hours from the following instrumental ensembles:

Piano (1) - must be taken 6 times for a total of 6 credit hours.

*Students in the Voice and Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, & Percussion concentrations may test out of Piano Skills and supplement those 2 credit hours through applied lessons or music ensembles. Piano concentration students are not required to take Piano Skills unless recommended by the Director of Music Programs.
