Clinical laboratory science is a high-demand employment field that prepares students to be qualified to work in hospital laboratories and other clinical settings. Unique in its 3+1 program structure, clinical laboratory science involves three years of classes in biology, chemistry, and immunology followed by one full year of clinical experience in an accredited training hospital or laboratory.
This major is affiliated with such regional programs and hospitals as the Parkview Health System Laboratories Medical Technology Program in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Upon completion of the program, students are permitted to participate in becoming board certified. Once they have certification, students are prepared for careers in hospital laboratories, doctors' offices, medical clinics, private laboratories, or advanced studies.
