Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Strings: violin, viola, percussion
Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, primarily beginners, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a master's degree in music education, music performance, or other related field. The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Head Cheer and Dance Coach. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate cheer and dance program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of cheer and dance, possess stunting certifications, proven success in coaching cheer and dance at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication skills, and strong leadership.

Sports Information Director
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for a Sports Information Director. This full-time, 12-month administrative position will report to the Athletic Director and work closely with the Office of Public Relations and Marketing. The SID is responsible for creating and executing strategies to increase the visibility of student-athletes, coaches, and all 21 athletic programs. Responsibilities include: coordination of media/public relation efforts; assisting with the webcast of home events; maintenance of the athletics website; creating and developing press releases, game notes for media, media guides, game programs, sports schedules, and other athletic department printed material; gathering, maintaining, and posting NCAA required statistics; game management duties specific to the SID such as staffing for all home events; supervise and mentor sports information graduate assistants; and other duties associated with being the SID. 

This position requires a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in journalism, communication, public relations, sport management or a related field. Candidates must have excellent written (in AP style) and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in an intercollegiate sports information department.  Candidates should have working knowledge of athletic statistics (prefer prior use of StatCrew software), Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and have basic website content and design experience. Candidates should have the ability to create and edit highlight videos as well as have experience with social media and live streaming.

Director of Marketing and Public Relations
Defiance College seeks applicants for an experienced, high-energy individual for the position of Director of Marketing and Public Relations. The Director will provide leadership for implementing and directing a comprehensive college-wide communications plan founded on the College’s strategic plan initiatives in support of the core academic mission of the College. The Director works collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to support enrollment efforts and integrate institutional marketing efforts across a variety of campus initiatives. Responsibilities will include overseeing all forms of media advertising; production and creation of most printed material including press releases, brochures, and official publications; creation of various visual media; and web design and content. The Director will promote a heightened image of Defiance College locally, regionally, and nationally ensuring quality, consistency, and clarity in all communications. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management the Director will also have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field and demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents through verbal, written, and visual media. The selected candidate must be able to think creatively; have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of various computer and graphic design software; and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Director of Admissions
Defiance College has an immediate opening for a Director of Admissions to lead all aspects of the undergraduate and graduate admissions office. Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, the Director is an integral part of the Enrollment Management team.

The Director of Admission leads a team of professionals who ensure a positive applicant experience and maintains the integrity of our college admissions process. The Director oversees the entire admissions process from the time students inquire and apply through matriculation, which includes assisting in the development of admissions policy and process for existing and new programs for all undergraduate, graduate, non-matriculated, readmission applicants, and participants to special programs. Experience in a data-driven and goal-oriented office is important.

Qualified candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and the ideal candidate will have five years of progressively responsible experience in university undergraduate and graduate admissions. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills; a high level of technological proficiency; familiarity with automated information systems; and the ability to respond professionally in sensitive situations. Prior experience with online graduate programs and completion programs is highly desirable.

Vice President for Finance & Administration 
Defiance College announces the search for a Vice President for Finance & Administration (VPFA) and invites applications and nominations for the position. The strongest applicants for the position will be energetic, innovative, collaborative, and strategic leaders.

Reporting directly to the President, the VPFA will serve on the President’s Cabinet and work collaboratively with senior administrators, the Board of Trustees, and the entire campus community to provide responsible stewardship of the College resources. The VPFA will be responsible for leading and strategically managing all areas of finance, accounting, payroll, student accounts, and physical plant, and shall direct and supervise the Controller, Director of Physical Plant, and the Director of Human Resources. The VPFA also provides leadership for the planning and direction of the College’s computer and information services’ needs.

The Vice President for Finance & Administration will have a history of leading and managing multiple aspects of a senior level position and possess an established record of employing a strong analytical focus to make data-informed decisions. The new VPFA will have a Master's Degree and ten years of progressively responsible and successful administrative expertise in financial management.

Financial Aid Counselor 
Defiance College seeks candidates for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Counselor is responsible for counseling students and families in the financial aid process and is responsible for ensuring that all aid processing meets federal, state and institutional regulations. The individual will participate in public relations activities, recruitment events, and retention initiatives. The successful candidate will be technologically confident and willing to learn Powerfaids, NSLDS, FAA Access, ED Express and ED Connect.

Administrative Assistant, Education and Business 
Defiance College seeks an Administrative Assistant for the Education and Business programs.  The individual will provide administrative and project support for the program directors and externally-accredited academic programs.

Responsibilities of this full-time, 12-month position include preparing and managing correspondence and reports, implementing and maintaining office systems and databases, organizing and maintaining records for accreditation, taking meeting minutes, providing organizational and logistical support for events and activities, and other support duties as assigned. The individual must be able to use technology efficiently, be proficient in MSOffice, and maintain thorough and accurate records. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills along with the ability to interact and work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals are essential.  A high school diploma is required; bachelor’s degree preferred and office administrative experience is desirable.

Data Management and Office Coordinator
Defiance College seeks candidates for the position of Data Management and Office Coordinator. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Coordinator is a member of the enrollment management team and plays a vital role within the Admissions Office. Position responsibilities include the efficient running of daily operations, data entry, imports, document processing, and assistance with coordinating events. Applicants must have a great work ethic, attention to detail, and strong organization skills.

A high school diploma with significant prior work experience in office settings is required; associate’s degree or college coursework is preferred. Those with knowledge of higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.

Case Manager and Counseling Center Staff Clinician
Defiance College seeks a licensed or license-eligible (Ohio) Case Manager/Staff Clinician to be responsible for providing linking and follow up services to students who are identified as students of concern or who need help identifying necessary campus or community resources. The individual will also assist with the management of COVID-19 to include testing and contact tracing. This individual will also serve as a clinician in the Counseling Center and will provide individual and group counseling, assist with crisis response (which may require evening and weekend response), conduct mental health and wellness outreach programs, and provide training and consultation on college student mental health.

This is a full-time 10-month (August through May) administrative appointment with an immediate start date. The position is grant funded and continued employment will be contingent on performance and grant funding.  

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in counseling or a related field and have valid Ohio counselor, social work, or psychologist licensure or 5 years of licensure in another state (must become licensed in Ohio within six months of appointment). Prior experience working with college students is preferred.
