FACULTY POSITIONS

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a qualified candidate to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Developmental Biology or Anatomy and Physiology. The appointment will commence Fall 2019.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in the applicant's area of expertise, as well as general biology, comparative vertebrate anatomy, vertebrate physiology and human anatomy and physiology. It is highly desirable that candidates have experience in molecular techniques and/or forensic science. The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effective teaching at the introductory level. Additionally, the candidate's research should be applicable to developing an undergraduate research program. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment; be familiar with new technology and willing to incorporate technology into the classroom and laboratory; and be open to teaching strategies that enhance student success. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF EXERCISE SCIENCE

Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science (ESCI). Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focused upon a variety of courses that may include Biomechanics & Kinesiology, Fitness and Wellness Programming, Introduction to Exercise Science, Coaching and Sport Leadership, or Organization and Administration along with the supervision of ESCI internships and field experiences. This faculty member may also provide instructional support in the program areas of Athletic Training and Sport Management.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in a field pertinent to Exercise Science; advanced ABD will be considered. Professional certification through ACSM and/or NSCA is also desired. The successful candidate should have completed doctorate in Accounting or Business. A CPA licensure is required. ABD will be considered. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ATHLETIC TRAINING
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Athletic Training - Clinical Education coordinator, in a new Masters of Athletic Training program. Defiance College is preparing for application to CAATE for an Entry-Level Masters in Athletic Training Program, with courses to start fall 2019.

Primary responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focusing on courses within the Master of Athletic Training curriculum as well as the undergraduate Exercise Science Program. The individual will also serve as the Clinical Education Coordinator to approve new clinical sites, coordinate student placement in clinical experiences, train and evaluate preceptors, and maintain clinical education requirements. Additional responsibilities include serving as Academic Advisor to MAT and undergraduate students, assisting the Program Director with CAATE Accreditation, committee work and service to the College mission.

The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate in Athletic Training or a related field; advanced ABD will be considered. Candidates must be BOC certified, eligible for Ohio Athletic Training Licensure, have a minimum of 3 years clinical athletic training experience, and experience with CAATE accreditation standards. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. Ideal candidates specialize in technical writing, rhetoric, and writing program administration. Secondary interests should include cultural studies and/or literature. Primary responsibilities include teaching lower and upper-division writing courses. The typical semester teaching load is four courses (12 hours). Fifty percent of the load will include the teaching of general education composition courses. Administrative course releases are in place.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Defiance College invites applications and nominations for a qualified candidate to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in a newly created major in Environmental Science. The appointment will commence Fall 2019.

Teaching responsibilities include courses at the introductory level, in the applicant's area of expertise, geology, GIS and/or remote sensing, and possibly a science course for non-majors. Candidates with an agricultural science background that supplements Environmental Science are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be a committed educator with previous teaching experience in higher education with evidence of effectiveness at the introductory level; the desire to develop a undergraduate research program; and an ability to be enthusiastic about working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. VISITING SCHOLAR IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES
The Charles K and Esther C. Krieger Visiting Scholars Program at Defiance College invites applications for a Visiting Scholar in Religious Studies for Fall 2019 through Spring 2021 with an August 2019 start. The Visiting Scholar will teach three courses per semester in religious studies, including courses in the scholar's area of interest, and the first year seminar World Issues. The Visiting Scholar will also coordinate a series on interfaith dialogue and understanding, and engage in research benefiting students and society. The Visiting Scholar also submits an annual report of activities due to the foundation.

The position provides an annual stipend of $44,000 with room and board, plus health benefits. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in Religion or Religious Studies or other relevant field with an emphasis in the Abrahamic traditions of Christianity or Islam. The first Krieger Scholar was an expert in Judiasm, and it is the wishes of the foundation that this position rotate over time to fulfill the vision of interfaith dialogue and understanding.

INSTRUCTORS FOR APPLIED MUSIC LESSONS
Defiance College is seeking to build an applicant pool for anticipated instructional needs in applied music lessons for:

Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone
Brass: trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, tuba
Strings: violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar

Instructors provide 14 lessons and a performance assessment per semester. Instructors will have the potential to build private studios and work with ensembles. The Music Program seeks candidates with an interest in working with students of all skill levels, as well as energy and drive to contribute to growing a small program. Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or other related field. TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time Clinical Supervisors for Teacher Education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the Spring 2019 semester. Our Licensure areas include Early and Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent and Young Adult (core content areas), and Intervention Specialist Mild-to-Moderate (K-12). Clinical Supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a Master's Degree in Education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR

Defiance College seeks an individual to assist in all aspects of recruitment of new students. Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel an assigned territory developing relationships with secondary school counselors, attend college fairs, and participate in other admission-related events and activities which at times may require evening and weekend work. Will be responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students and parents regarding educational and financial opportunities and providing additional prospective student follow-up activities. Individual will also be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the hospitality visit program, including all aspects of student visits.

Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years experience in admissions, marketing, sales, or higher education desirable. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with a variety of individuals are imperative.

VICE PRESIDENT FOR ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
Defiance College seeks applicants and nominations for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM). The strongest applicants for the position will be energetic, innovative, collaborative and strategic leaders. The successful candidate will contribute to President Richanne Mankey's vision to grow Defiance College to 1,000 students by 2025, as outlined in the strategic plan.

Reporting directly to the President, the VPEM will serve on the President's Cabinet and be responsible for leading and managing the College's enrollment management operations including undergraduate and graduate admissions, financial aid, and marketing. This professional will work closely with student life, athletics, and academic affairs to implement the strategic enrollment plan and coordinate efforts to increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates. The successful candidate will have demonstrated achievements and a record of progressive responsibility in the following areas: enrollment management, admissions, strategic planning and analysis, financial aid leveraging, team building, staff development, and experience with marketing. A master's degree with at least 5 years of enrollment management experience in a college or university setting is required. The ability to assess, evaluate, and implement strategic initiatives in all operational aspects within enrollment management is essential.

HEAD CHEER AND DANCE COACH
Defiance College, an NCAA Division III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, invites applications for the position of Head and Dance Coach for a start-up program to begin competition in 2018-2019. Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach of an intercollegiate cheer and dance program including, but not limited to, recruiting, coaching, budget management, organization of training, practices and competitions, academic monitoring and other duties as assigned.

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge of cheer and dance, proven success in coaching cheer and dance at the collegiate or high school level, the ability to recruit, develop and motivate Division III student-athletes, a strong commitment to the academic success of student-athletes, knowledge of and commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication skills, and strong leadership. A bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and valid driver's license are required. GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

The following Graduate Assistantships are for a two academic year terms with a start date of August 1, 2019 for the 2019-2020 academic year. Successful candidates must be accepted into the Defiance College graduate program in Business and will be awarded a full graduate school tuition scholarship covering a maximum of 36 credit hours. Additionally, a tuition waiver of up to 12 credit hours will be applied toward any pre-requisite courses which may be needed for the MBA program, provided they are taken at Defiance College. Compensation includes stipend, College-provided housing, and a meal plan on campus when meals are served to students during the academic year.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - INTRAMURALS/STUDENT LIFE
Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for Intramurals within the Office of Student Life. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement, the individual will be responsible for coordinating and planning the day-to day operations of a comprehensive intramural sports program which supports and encourages the concept of student leadership and development. The individual will support the activities and events of the Office of Student Life. Primary duties and responsibilities include: coordinating and scheduling all intramural sports activities, events, and tournaments; hiring, training, and scheduling of officials and other student workers; policy development and enforcement; facility reservations; program promotion; participant registration; inventory and requisition of equipment and supplies; and program assessment. The individual will serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team and Professional Residence Life Staff which will include participating in Resident Assistant Training and being a part of the duty phone rotation throughout the year.

The successful candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, have knowledge of and/or have participated in a wide variety of sports and recreational activities, and demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills; previous intramural participation, officiating, and/or tournament experience is desirable.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - SPORTS INFORMATION
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an anticipated opening for a graduate assistant to the Sports Information Director. The individual will assist with coordination of publicity and media relations and promotion of the College's 20 intercollegiate sports programs. Primary responsibilities will include layout and design of media guides, game-day programs and game note packets; writing press releases; daily maintenance of DefianceAthletics.com; keeping statistics and performing other game day tasks; and other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director.
